Normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using making it look like readable english many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use model text and a search for many web sites.

According to the regulations introduced by Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN) starting from January 1, 2014. Whois verification will only be needed for the Registrant contact information for generic TLDs (gTLDs) in the following cases:

  • for new registrations;
  • for registrant contact information changes on existing domains.

When a new domain is registered, we will immediately send an email to the Registrant email address specified for the domain. The verification email will be also sent if an edit is made to the domain name details.

If the Registrant email is changed, the email will be sent to the new email address specified.

The email will contain a link you need to click on to verify your email address.

If you have domains in your account that are either queued for verification or pending suspension or are already suspended, do contact us and we will be sending email reminders with the link to the Whois Verification page, where you will be able to see the list of the affected domains.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was adopted by the European Union (EU) on 14 April 2016 and took effect on 25 May 2018 uniformly across the EU countries. According to the European Commission, the aim of the GDPR is to protect all EU citizens and residents from privacy and data breaches1. It applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of subjects residing in the European Union, regardless of the company’s location. More information is available here.

For information about the domain name, including the registrar name, conduct a WHOIS search at https://whois.icann.org. The registrar’s name will be included in the result. A list of registrars and links to their websites is on the ICANN-accredited Registrar list.

After 1 December 2016, the Transfer Policy specifies how registrars must handle changes of registrant name, registrant organization name, registrant email address, and administrative email address (if there is no registrant email address) displayed in the Whois information.

60-Day Lock After Change of Registrant

After 1 December 2016, registrars must impose a lock that will prevent any transfer to another registrar for sixty (60) days following a change to a registrant’s information. Registrars may (but are not required to) allow registrants to opt out of the 60-day lock prior to the change of registrant request.

To transfer a domain name to another registrar and change the registrant’s information, registrants may:

  • Request the transfer to another registrar before changing the registrant’s information (to avoid the 60-day lock); or
  • Have the prior registrant opt-out the 60-day lock (if this option is offered by the registrar) before making any change to registrant information.

Because policies may vary by registrar, please review a registrar’s policy before making a change to registrant information or transferring to another registrar.

If you want a domain name that somebody else has already registered, you have some options, which might include:

  1. Working out an agreement with the current registrant.
  2. Waiting to see if the current registrant lets the domain name expire.
  3. Filing a lawsuit in court against the current registrant.
  4. For cases involving “abusive registrations”, you may be able to begin an administrative proceeding under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.

RETRIEVAL OF DOMAIN NAME PASSWORD

1. The domain registrar must provide the registrant / owner with a copy of their domain name password within 2 days of a request by the registrant / owner, provided the registrant / owner has maintained correct contact information in the registry. If the registrant / owner is required to provide written authorisation, as defined in paragraph 3, a domain registrar must use reasonable commercial endeavours to provide the password within 7 days.

2. The domain registrar must ensure that the domain name password is provided directly to the registrant / owner. Where the registrant / owner has maintained accurate contact information, the domain registrar must provide the domain name password to the registrant / owner contact listed in the registry database.

3. Where the registrant / owner has not maintained accurate contact information, the registrar must authenticate the request for the domain name password by obtaining written authorisation from the registrant / owner. For the purposes of this policy, “written authorisation” means a hard copy letter, facsimile or PDF document signed by the registrant / owner, or in the case of a corporate registrant / owner, signed by a senior manager, company director, company secretary (or equivalent of these positions) of the registrant / owner, on corporate letterhead.

For all *.my domain registration

Your domain name must conform to certain alphanumeric conventions:

  • it must contain at least 4 character, but no more than 40 characters. For example: abcd.com.my & abcabcabcabc.org.my
  • The characters may comprise the 26 letters [a-z] of the Roman alphabet, the 10 digits [0-9] and the character “-” (hyphen or dash). For example: companyname.net.my , companyname123.gov.my , companyname-123.edu.my , companyname123.my ; However, the character “-” (hyphen or dash) can only be used as a separating element. It cannot be used as an initial or final character in a label.

Propagation - How Long do DNS Changes Take?

When a domain is newly registered, the nameservers are changed, or DNS changes are made, you can expect a propagation time up to 24 hours. This is because it takes time for the DNS to take effect across the internet. The actual time of propagation may vary in some locations based on your network setup.
